When FlavaChords and K-Electric crossed paths in the Castle Bridge Primary School passages, little did they know that music would bring them
together a decade later. The deep house duo has not only performed with some of the country’s most talented musicians but currently work closely
with Canadian deejay and producer Nick Holder. Their latest offering is currently climbing up the Traxsource Top 100 charts. K-Electric’s music career officially kicked off post high school. “I’ve always had an interest in music but it was only until I bought my first pair of turn tables that I discovered just how passionate I am about music and decided to pursue it seriously,” says the producer who was born Keletso Vinger.
The beginnings Flava’s (born Lerato Mabina) musical journey shares a similarity in that he too discovered his musical fervor after receiving his first keyboard in 1995 and has not looked back.
The duo formerly formed part of well known local DJ and production group Urban Knights, later known as Black and Gold Crew (B&G Crew). The group has since parted way to pursue individual careers. K-Electric and Flava then came up with the idea for a deep house music production duo called Stereo Tone Music which they formed in the latter portion of 2013. “The name stems from the word “stereo” or “stereophonic sound” which in music terms is a method of sound reproduction. We added “tone” which is a period sound and lastly “music” for obvious reasons,” explains Flava. Influenced by the likes of Black Coffee, J-Something and Bucie, Stereo Tone Music’s days are spent researching and perfecting their production skills. Their zest for life, noticeable passion and musical
understanding serve as a reminder that their big break is on the horizon.
